The Relais Christine<\/a> is a 5-star hotel perfectly located on the left bank of Paris. Built on the remains of the Abbey of the Grands-Augustins, which was founded in 1231, the hotel has plenty of history behind it! By combining the authenticity of a traditional Parisian mansion with all the modern amenities you would expect to find in a top end hotel, the Relais Christine<\/a> provides an incredibly unique experience for anyone looking to stay in Paris.<\/p>\n

As soon as you walk through the iron gates\u00a0into the pretty courtyard,\u00a0you feel as if you have stepped into a country home rather than a hotel. And once inside the main lobby you are immediately struck by the hotels period charm. Vaulted ceilings, wood fire places and old portraits\u00a0give you a sense of this hotel’s history.<\/p>\n

THE ROOMS AT RELAIS CHRISTINE<\/h3>\n

The mansion has been converted into 48 rooms and suites, ranging from the Standard room all the way to the exclusive Garden Suite rooms. It\u2019s easy to tell the care that went into each room, from the incredible sheets, to the luxurious Fragonard toiletry products, to the wooden beams from the original structure. Some rooms even include a private walk out terrace, perfect for sipping on some quality French wine after a long day of seeing the sites!<\/p>\n

We were delighted to stay in one of the newly refurbished rooms\u00a0set on the ground floor opening onto the central atrium. These rooms\u00a0are the first in the hotel to be\u00a0refurbished mixing traditional Parisian style with an updated look. The rooms are bright, and care has been taken to create light and space through the use of colour and mirrors. Relais Christine have some grand plans to refurbish all the bedrooms, along with bringing the current dining space from the downstairs vaults upstairs and to build a swimming pool to accompany the existing spa, making it the largest spa in the arrondissement.<\/p>\n

THE LOCATION<\/h3>\n

The Relais Christine is positioned perfectly near many of the must-see\u00a0sites in Paris. Located\u00a0on a quiet street in the Latin Quarter you won\u2019t be bothered by noise late at night, but you are also only a 2 minute walk from a range of restaurants, cafes, and bistros. Many of the notable tourist sites are also an easy walk, including the Notre-Dame, the Louvre and Mus\u00e9e d’Orsay among others.<\/p>\n

THE SPA AT RELAIS CHRISTINE<\/h3>\n

After a long day of visiting all the sites near the hotel, there\u2019s no better way to relax than at the Spa. Keeping with the uniqueness of the hotel, the Spa was built under the 13th century stone vaults of the mansion, complete with workout equipment, a Finnish sauna and a beautiful mosaic jacuzzi . Trust me, you\u2019ve never run on a treadmill like this before! Best of all, access to these spa facilities is free so definitely take advantage of them.<\/p>\n

If you are looking to pamper yourself a little more, the spa offers a full range of treatments, including massages, face treatments, manicures\/pedicures, and hairdressing services. All these services take place in private rooms under the hotel, so if you\u2019ve ever wanted to get a massage in a vintage French stone vault this is your chance!<\/p>\n

CONCIERGE<\/h3>\n

A special note needs to be made about the quality of the concierge and service at the Relais Christine. From the moment you step into the hotel, you know you are going to be well taken care of. They offer complimentary car parking, which is extremely rare in central Paris. The hotel has bikes for guests to borrow as well as the option to rent their convertible Fiat 500. The concierge will also make bookings at all the best restaurants and can even try to secure you tickets for exclusive events!<\/p>\n

As an added bonus for you animal lovers, there are 2 adorable cats appropriately named \u201cChristine\u201d and \u201cAugustine\u201d who wander the patio of the hotel and are particularly fond of any breakfast treats you might send their way. Between the uniqueness of the setting, the quality of the rooms, and the incredible service provided by all the employees, I can highly recommend the Relais Christine for your next stay in Paris!<\/p>\n
